Stewardship Sunday – January 6, 2013

Happy New Year.

Grace and peace of the Lord.  As we celebrate the nativity of our Lord and the beginning of a new year, let us look forward to new beginnings and a year of prayerful giving to our Church.  Recently, our Metropolitan Methodios suggested that we as a parish consider a guideline of $2.00 a day to support our parish.  (This is about the cost of a cup of coffee each day!)  Though for some of us this may not be possible, for those of us who can do this, it would mean great things for our parish of St. George.

Let us strive together in prayer, fellowship, worship and service to make St. George stronger in all ways to serve the Lord in 2013.  Through our prayers and service God will be with us through this transition and always.  As it says in 2 Corinthians 7-9:

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

Sunday, January 6, 2013, will be Stewardship Sunday and we will also be observing the Vasilopita  (St. Basil’s Bread) and Epiphany (Θεοφάνια).

God bless you always,

The St. George Parish Council
