Keon E. Ioannou, 48, of Keene died Nov. 2, 2013. He was born in Keene June 13, 1965, son of Euripides F. and Margaret (Theodorou) Ioannou.
He grew up in Keene and was a 1984 graduate of Keene High School. He also attended Keene State College for two years.
Mr. Ioannou’s love of people, food service, and music was reflected in the different businesses he worked for earlier in his life, including the Keene State College dining commons, 176 Main Restaurant, the Pub, Pitchfork Records, and Video Headquarters. In 2002, he became the owner of Tony Clamato’s Ristorante, where his sense of humor, wit, cooking expertise and people skills came together, making Tony Clamato’s a favorite stop for many people.
He was part of the Red Sox Nation and also enjoyed the music of Phish and the Grateful Dead. He was an avid bike rider and had logged close to 4,000 miles in 2013. His two dogs, Phenway and Harley, had a special place in his heart. (Shown below is Keon in happier days with one of his beloved dogs.) Most of all, he loved and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is remembered by his family as a free spirit, who was willing to help those who were in need. He was good with children and was known for giving good hugs to friends and family.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret Ioannou of Keene; his brothers, Steven Ioannou of Keene and Leo Ioannou of Easthampton, MA; his uncle, Bill Athanasopoulos of Keene; two cousins, Trish Blackburn and husband, Wayne, of Northfield, NH and Vasilios Athanasopoulos and wife, Abby, of Oceanside, NY; and three great-cousins, Hannah and Colby Blackburn and Nikos Athanasopoulos. His father, Euripides Ioannou, and aunts, Vicki Theodorou and Aggie Athanasopoulos, died earlier.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Margaret Ioannou and family.
