Χριστός Ανέστη! from Fr. Leo and his family

resurrection_iconΧριστός Ανέστη! to our St. George Church community.

Now, that we have reached the season of Paschal joy, let us bask in the warmth of God’s love and closeness during these 40 days between Pascha and Holy Ascension.

The week immediately following Pascha is known as “Bright Week.” In truth, we enter into a weeklong period during which we celebrate Pascha as one, long, bright and happy day! Fasting has ceased—we feast with happiness. The Royal Doors of the Church iconostasis are left open during the week. Χριστός Ανέστη! Αληθώς Ανέστη! Christ is Risen! Truly He is Risen! we cry out to one another.

Our church is particularly blessed in that the Feast of St. George falls during Bright Week this year. On Tuesday, April 22, we will celebrate a vesperal Divine Liturgy for the Feast of St. George beginning at 6:00 PM. Afterwards, we will enjoy a pot-luck meal.

On Wednesday, April 23, St. George’s Feast, our church will welcome multi-talented artist Karen Charbonneau Zukas, for a hands-on workshop on the craft of pysanky egg decoration. This is a batik (wax-resist) form of egg decoration that is quite beautiful! This will be a wonderful opportunity for anyone in our community who would like to learn by trying their hand at this craft of Ukrainian egg decoration, which is an Orthodox art form. The workshop will be held in Hellenic Hall beginning at 11:30AM. Ten spots are available, please contact Pres. Candace at (857) 210-7945 or doxa141@gmail.com to sign up.

An Sunday, April 27 after the liturgy, we will have a catered dinner in honor of our patron Saint George.

Join us for midweek services at Mid-Pentecost and on the Feast of Holy Ascension. Continue to draw closer to Christ during this glorious season of the year.

Χριστός Ανέστη! Αληθώς Ανέστη!
